TEXT: Mark 9:42-48

SUB: Hell Is Real

Introduction:
WE are living in a day when many scoff at the preaching of Hell.

But regardless of what men think about Hell, it is taught throughout the Word of God.

The Bible also states very plainly that folks who die unsaved will discover that Hell is very real.

Today let’s take the letters of the word “Hell” and see some of the things that God says about the place called Hell.

I.    H - HELL IS HOT

A.    Tormented in this flame
       
(Luke 16:24 KJV)  "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."

B.    Testify to brothers not to come to this place of torments.

(Luke 16:28 KJV)  "For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment."

C.    Hell is HOT!   
       
II.    E - HELL IS EVERLASTING

A.    No one escapes from HELL!

B.    No one has ever figured out how to get out of Hell once they arrived.

(Luke 16:26 KJV)  "And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence."

C.    No one will ever be able to put out the FIRE; it is everlasting!

(Mark 9:44 KJV)  "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

(Mark 9:46 KJV)  "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

(Mark 9:48 KJV)  "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

D.    Hell is EVERLASTING!

III.    L - HELL IS A PLACE OF LONGING!

A.    Longing for Water

(Luke 16:24 KJV)  "And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame."

B.    Longing for His brothers to be SAVED!

(Luke 16:27 )  "Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:" (28 )  "For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment."

C.    Longing for REST!

(Rev 14:11 KJV)  "And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."

D.    HELL is a place of LONGING!

IV.    L - HELL IS A PLACE OF LOWEST COMPANY!

A.    Look at the neighborhood of HELL!

(Rev 21:8 KJV)  "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

B.    Surely anyone would rather spend eternity with a different kind of people than will be in HELL!

C.    Yet, that will be the kind of people you will spend eternity with if you die UNSAVED!

D.    HELL is a place of LOWEST COMPANY!

CONCLUSION: Answer God’s call to repentance of sin and faith in Christ today. Don’t leave here unsaved. Accept God’s free offer of Salvation and escaped this place called HELL! Today, Today,  Today !
